Skegness Town Juniors Under 18 duo Declan Johnson and Brooklyn South have been rewarded for their hard work and effort, by being included in the Skegness Town AFC squad in a pre-season fixture tomorrow at Lincoln United.

The first team managers Nathan Collins and Chris Rawlinson have been impressed with the progress being made within the junior club, and they are determined to give young talented players appropriate opportunity.

Nathan Collins told us, “The manner in which the junior section of the football club has grown in as little as three seasons has been terrific. There are over 135 kids now all in a great place to develop and enjoy their football. Chris and I are looking forward to having a couple of the Under 18’s involved tomorrow, and I was really impressed when I watched one of their training sessions recently. Moving forward I am determined to provide youngsters with a pathway to the first team, and Chris and I will be watching their games this season on a regular basis”.

Head of junior football development Dale Houlston commented, “It is great news to hear that the senior club are fully embracing what we are trying to achieve with youth football in Skegness. We have ventured into intermediate under 18’s football this season, and both Stuart and Jamie are doing a great job of looking after that age group. I know that in addition to Brooklyn and Declan getting a taste of things with the first team, Stuart and Jamie are also now working closely with the other men’s teams in the club to to provide opportunities for our young players there too. It’s an exciting time to be a part of Skegness Town Football Club and the future looks very bright for young players in the area”.
